How to Turn a Slow Market Day into a Content Creation Win

Every vendor knows the pain of a slow market day. Maybe it’s the weather, maybe it’s the wrong crowd, maybe Mercury is in retrograde, either way, it sucks. But here’s the good news: a quiet booth doesn’t have to be a waste. It can actually be your best chance to create content that keeps working after the market ends.

Here’s how I use slow shows to create content that grows my audience, builds trust, and boosts future sales.

1. Film a Booth Tour Video 🎬

Use your downtime to film a walkthrough of your setup. Highlight:

  • Your bestselling items 🌟

  • How you display things 🖼️

  • Any freebies or deals you offer (like our “Follow us for a free lighter” sign!) 🔥

These make great Instagram Reels, TikToks, or even Pinterest Idea Pins.

2. Record Product Demos 📹

Got a product that needs explaining? Use the calm to film:

  • How to open a pill case 💊

  • What your sticker book is 📖

  • What’s inside a mystery pack 🎁

Pro tip: Record voiceovers later if you don’t want to talk in public.

3. Snap Content Photos in Natural Light 📸

Markets usually have better lighting than your home studio. Take advantage:

  • Flat lays on your tablecloth 🖼️

  • Product shots in your display 🎯

  • Detail shots of bundles or signage 🖌️

You’ll thank yourself later when it’s time to post.

4. Capture Customer Interactions (With Permission) 📷

If someone’s excited about your booth, ask if you can snap a pic or film a short video of them using your ArtVend or picking out a sticker pack.

Social proof sells. Real people loving your products is gold.

5. Go Live or Do a Market Recap 📺

If foot traffic is slow, go live and give your followers a behind-the-scenes look. Or film a recap talking about:

  • What you brought 📦

  • What the setup looks like 🛠️

  • What’s new or exclusive ✨

Let people know they can still shop online if they missed it.

6. Make a “Day in the Life” Vlog 🎥

Pull together clips of:

  • Packing the car 🚗

  • Setting up 🛠️

  • Merchandising 🛍️

  • Favorite moments 🎉

Even if the show flops, your content doesn’t have to.

7. Save It All for Later 🗃️

Content doesn’t need to be posted the same day. I treat my slow show content like a content bank:

  • Batch your videos 📹

  • Save drafts with captions 📝

  • Use during busy weeks or launches 🚀
